Proceedings: Nature Based Tourism Featuring Walking Tracks and Trails
This seminar was held on the 19th May 2010 at the City of Greater Bendigo.
This event followed on from our earlier seminar titled “Trails and Tracks” where we talked about the strategic approach to developing successful trails. This seminar took us further, whereby we now look at the economic benefits these trails and other nature based attractions bring to communities through tourism, a topic relevant not just to regional communities but metropolitan regions as well.
These are examples of companies offering a variety of trail/nature based tourism services. The list is by no means exhaustive, nor is it giving any recommendation or endorsement! It is intended just to provide some food for thought.

Proceedings - Tenancy Agreements and Allocations - Sport and Recreation Officer Forum
The above forum was held at the Malvern Town Hall, Friday 29th Jan 2010. It was attended by 85 industry professionals from Local Government, State Government and State Sporting Associations.
Daniel Freer, Manager Leisure and Libraries for City of Stonnington conducted an interactive session on this topic addressing sporting club, recreation department, Councilor and resident perspectives. (Daniel’s presentation is attached.)
Some attendees have requested PLA produce tenancy agreement best practice models. PLA will look to produce suggested agreement templates in the future. No agreement or allocation system is perfect and every scenario is different. Here we have provided 3 examples from the City of Glen Eira, City of Casey and City of Manningham.
I encourage members to send me copies of your own agreements to post to this website. We have also started a forum topic in our new PLA Member online forum area titled PLAcebook. http://www.parks-leisure.com.au/forum/) The topic is titled “SRO Forum Tenancy Agreements and Allocations”. Use your PLA member login and post any comments you may have there.
The Sport Development Network is a significant part of the Victorian Government and the Australian Sport Commission’s commitment to the support of sport associations in Victoria. The Network meetings provide a forum to strengthen the relationships between the sport sector and schools, Local Government Authorities, local clubs, community agencies, and under represented population groups in Victoria. This is achieved through networking and the delivery of special training and forums addressing the needs of the sector. Meeting Dates are as listed and are also included in PLA’s calendar of events:
Meeting details: 9:30am to 12:30pm (official start 10am) State Netball and Hockey Centre, 10 Brens Drive, Parkville (Melways: 29D12)
For further information or to be included on the mailing list, please contact Aaron Dore, 9208 3517, aaron.dore@sport.vic.gov.au If you are attending our SRO forum this Friday, you will have a chance to meet Aaron and many of his team from SRV.
